Discussion Group

One of the fundamentals taught in Masonry is the value of the seven liberal arts and sciences. In support of this value, it is our practice to hold forum style discussions on a regular basis to discuss Masonic topics.

A Forum for Discussing Masonry

This group is open to all Entered Apprentice, Fellowcraft, and Master Masons. The goal of the group is to engage in active discussions and develop our understandings of the Masonic system. Past topics have ranged from symbolic discussions of Masonic topics to historical lectures, as well as sharing Masonic trivia.

Master Craftsman: Symbolic Lodge

For 2016, this group is working with a publication of the Supreme Council of the Southern Jurisdiction of the Scottish Rite called Master Craftsman: Symbolic Lodge. Although this course is produced by the Scottish Rite, you do not need to be a Scottish Rite Mason to take part.

The course consists of 7 correspondence lessons; the group will work on one lesson each session. There are 3 options available to participate in the group:

1) Purchase the full program from the Scottish Rite ($60), which includes:
  • Albert Pike`s book, Esoterika: The Symbolism of the Blue Degrees of Freemasonry
  • Arturo de Hoyos`s Scottish Rite Ritual Monitor & Guide
  • Correspondence quizzes which correspond to each section of the course.
  • After completion the participant will receive a certificate and a lapel pin.

2) Purchase the basic program from the Scottish Rite ($40); identical to option 1, but does not include a copy of Pike's "Esoterika"

3) Participate in the discussion (FREE) - come join us in fellowship and discussion. You won't have the materials to complete the quizzes, but can still learn as we explore the Master Craftsman program together.

Meeting Times

The first meeting of this discussion group will be held on Monday March 21 at the conclusion of Knob Creek's stated meeting for March. This should allow ample time for you to select how you would like to participate and acquire the materials for the group.

Yours Fraternally,
