With Great Sadness...

The passing of a dear brother. Black ribbons are used as a symbol of mourning. RIP Brother Jim Berry.Today we lament the loss of our dear, departed brother Jim Berry. Through his years of devoted service he taught so many men to be Masons. Though he has laid down his working tools, our lives are enriched for having known him.

As a token of respect and sadness, the charter will be draped by order of the Worshipful Master.

Our Brother has reached the end of his earthly toils. The brittle thread which bound him to earth has been severed and the liberated spirit has winged its flight to the unknown world. The silver cord is loosed; the golden bowl is broken; the pitcher is broken at the fountain; and the wheel is broken at the cistern. The dust has returned to the earth as it was, and the spirit has returned to God who gave it.

April 3rd 2014 - Community Builder Award

Knob Creek Lodge presented the 2014 Community Builder award on April 3, 2014. This year's honorees are Mr. Allan and Dr. Anne Lueck. This prestigious honor is among the only honors the Masonic fraternity extends to non-Masons. This year, the banquet was held at the City Federation of Women's Clubs at 219 King Circle, Temple, Texas. The banquet drew over 100 attendees and was very well received.

About the Community Builder Award

The Community Builder Award was designed by the Grand Lodge Texas to enable our Lodge to recognize outstanding non-Masons who have distinguished themselves through their service to the community, to the local, state or national government, to their house of worship, or to humanity.  Thus, the award is presented to individuals who, although they have never been initiated into Masonry, have followed the same precepts, ideals and standards that have been established for Masonic behavior.

The Community Builder Award is not necessarily designed to be given only to the obvious leaders of the community, those in the limelight, although they certainly must be considered.  Often times the award is bestowed upon a man or woman who, year in and year out, quietly and without fanfare , show their devotion to their community and its people without the expectation of awards or honors.

Knob Creek Wins Vanguard Award

On Thursday, December 5, 2013 our lodge was recognized at the Grand Lodge of Texas as a Vanguard Award recipient. The Vanguard is awarded annually to lodges that meet a number of criteria in excellence. There to receive the award on behalf of Knob Creek Lodge: (L to R) Junior Warden Kevin Wilbourn; Marshall Thomas Petrick, PM; Tiler Wayne Bachus, PM; Treasurer Billy McDaniel; Worshipful Master Benny Ismaili; Senior Warden Bill Mills, PM. Master of Ceremonies Josh Huckabee.

March 22nd 2014 - A Message from the Worshipful Master

Brethren,

This is an exciting time in the life of our lodge. Last year, we worked very hard to earn recognition as a Vanguard lodge by the Grand Lodge of Texas. With that goal achieved, we are working to uphold that status for this Masonic year as well. I’m proud to say that we are well on track to complete the requirements.

This year, I have put a lot of emphasis on us helping to grow our lodge by attracting the interest of men that would make good Masons. We have seen a surge in support from the community, and now have over a dozen men who are taking the first steps towards becoming Masons.

In order to help our members better represent the lodge and Freemasonry as a whole, I have appointed a committee focused on “Growth and Expansion” chaired by Past Master, Bryan Daniel. Bro. Daniel and his team have worked very hard over the past several months and are getting great results to show for it. Next Saturday, March 22nd is your chance to learn their techniques as they share the “Tools for Talking” workshop with us.

This workshop is important to the lodge and me; it represents a chance to bring men together, improve everyone’s skill set, and build a stronger future. A few members had a chance to attend a sneak peak of the workshop in February, and the feedback was overwhelming. One Past Master described it as “sorely needed” and “essential for every Mason." This workshop teaches thinking, speaking, and listening skills that will help you tell your Masonic story and speak to men who are interested in our great Fraternity.

There is absolutely no cost to attend, the workshop is open to any Master Mason, and is fun and fast-paced. Coffee and morning refreshments will be provided, and we will start at 8 AM on March 22nd.Thanks to the efforts of our committee, the workshop moves very smoothly and will not go past 12 PM.

As a reminder, later on March 22nd, we have our spaghetti supper. Service will run from 5 - 8 PM. Bring your friends, family, and loved ones. We’d love to have you join us, but carry out is also available. Tickets are $8 - see any Knob Creek member to purchase your tickets.

I hope to see you at BOTH events this coming Saturday, March 22nd.

Sincerely and Fraternally,

Arben “Benny” Ismaili
